Ms. Ella-ism 2
I love to share; love to talk (as some of you well know). Well, there are some things that we should keep to ourselves, you know? Like our hopes, plans, dreams, unless the persons we share with are 100% supportive. When we share with the wrong people, they will kill our dreams; even make us question ourselves at times.
Many times I came to my Mother in tears because someone had dashed my hopes, because as the gambler would say, I didn’t “know when to hold’em.” During those times my Mom would say the same thing over and over. She’d say, “Baby, you talk too much. If there’s something you want to do, keep your mouth shut and do it. If it turns out to be a mistake, it will be your mistake. But if you never try, you’ll never know.”
So, to you I say, if you have an idea, a dream, a master plan; learn “how to hold’em.” Or as Ms. Ella would say, “Baby if there’s something you want to do, keep your mouth shut and do it.”
