For The Ladies: Rocking Your ShePower!

FireworksLadies, ladies, ladies! There is no better time in history than now to be a woman. We are leading the way from the boardroom to the courtroom to the operating room to the classroom. Many of us are choosing with pride to stay home and educate our children in our homes. No matter where you find yourself at this time, rock your ShePower.

Perhaps you have a dream you’ve always wanted to fulfill but are waiting for the right time. I say to you, now is the time. If your dilemma is where to start, I can help with that. Begin by purchasing a journal to log your ideas and goals, you see a dream is just a dream until you write it down. Once a dream is written down and ideas are also penned on how to achieve the results you desire, your dream becomes a goal or plan.

The next thing you want to do is to align yourself with women who are already in or headed in the direction you desire to go. Remember you will only be as successful as the five closes persons in your circle. I’m not saying ditch your girls, if they aren’t living the dream you desire for yourself, what I’m saying is, you need two circles: a circle of friends and a professional circle of women who can mentor and show you how to reach your full potential.

As you formulate your plan to live your dream and rock your ShePower do your research and seek learning opportunities. It’s fine to attend free events or read articles online pertaining to what you want to do, but we get what we pay for. Establish a budget and take some classes on whatever it is you aspire to do. Attend networking events but keep in mind, networking involves more than handing out business cards. Approach women you don’t know, and introduce yourself with eye contact and a firm handshake; that action speaks confidence. If there are opportunities to mingle such as lunch breaks, etc use that time to sit with women you don’t know. The key is to build relationships.

I’m going to stop here for now. In my next post we will delve deeper into researching and formulating your plan for success. Be sure and follow my blog in order to stay informed of forthcoming postings. My intent is to pour into you as others have poured into me. Below are links to the websites and Twitter pages a few women who are rocking their ShePower. I am also sharing a link to a gentleman who has written a book on networking. (How many know there are men rocking their He-Power who can mentor us too) Please check our ladies and gentleman out as their wisdom is invaluable. Until next time, rock your ShePower!

Ciao!

  1. Beautifully said. Women need to empower and support one another. It is so annoying to me when women say “I don’t get along with other women”. Wonderful advice on needing to get out and attend networking events; social media is a good place to start but it also takes face to face communication to build relationships.
